Dark Star Farm has produced horses that win in Dressage, Trail, Jumping, Driving and Pleasure!
These horses have represented almost every Breed and type known, from Home bred QHs to Arabians, Morgans, Gaited horses, Draft and Draft Crosses.

 


 

 

 

 

Not only have the Goettler's competed and won throughout the U.S. -They were on the 1998 U.S. Team that competed in the T.R.E.C. World Championships in Italy. On retuning home Marty & Patti attended a T.R.E.C. Juging Seminar in Quebec,CA. and earned their International Judging credencials inT.,R.E.C. from the F.I.T.E..

 

There is one other International TREC Judge in the U.S., Lynn Rice-Takahashi- who owns and Rides A Dark Star bred QH- Brer Possum.

 

Dark Star Farm helps people find the horse they want, gives lessons to tune up the horse you own and generally can consult on most any facit of the horse world- from International competeing to having a trusted horse for trail riding.

 

We know that to a horse owner- it is their horse they are concerned about.

 

We can assist you to reach your riding goals- on a local level or above- in a fun, affordable way.

 

                                                  


 

Started in 1973, Dark Star Farm evolved from showing grade horses locally- to winning at the U.S. Arabian National Championships,as well as showing Dressage horses, thru 4th Level, Open Jumpers and of course- Winning the First US TREC at the Virginia Horse Center with  Chadd, ridden by Marty and SA Promasterpiece, ridden by Patti. Their final scores were .5 apart for Champion and Reserve!

 

Patti has handled Draft horses in hand at the Old Dominion Draft Show in Warrenton, shown on the Line at Upperville and ridden Side Saddle, Western, Over Fences as well as produced winning Driving Horses and Trail horses.

 

Marty has strong Western roots, as well as being a professional Farrier -he shoed the famous Caisson Horses at Ft.Meyer in Arlington,VA, then came to Caroline County Virginia when he left the Army. He has produced and shown 4 US Top Ten Trail horses, one Reserve US Champion, as well as numerous AHSA Zone Horse of the Year Western Champions.He has won on the QH cirquit on his home bred horses in Trail, Western Pleasure and Western Riding.
