Dark Star Farm has been in existence since 1973, when Marty and Patti Goettler married and joined forces to form a small horse farm in Caroline County, Virginia.

Since then, the Goettlers have had much success in breeding, raising and training Champion horses in many venues. Their basic premise is to train the horse in a way that makes sense to the horse, to do something that the horse enjoys. They take it the extra step to get the horse performing on a very high level, and invite the owner/rider to go along on this journey.

Cross Training- Our Secert Weapon!

As you can see- Cross training is the cornerstone of our Business- we can utilize the same horse in a number of different competitive venues. This not only adds value to the horse, but keeps it mentally fresh.

It also makes a much more user friendly horse!

This Pure Bred Arabian gelding was purchased by Marty and Patti- Marty was winning with him in Trail Classes within six months and Patti had him competing and winning in Dressage and Jumping within a year.
